The Principality of Andorra offers the possibility of visiting a large number of lakes and rivers located in the high mountains. There are also fifteen controlled fishing reserves available, of which eleven are no-kill, one is a natural fishing reserve and two are intensive fishing reserves.\u00a0<\/p>

Is it possible to fish in Andorra?<\/strong><\/h2>

The Andorran government controls and regulates fishing activity to protect the different species. A maximum of 8 units of fish per day and per fisherman may be kept and transported, both in free fishing areas and in the fishing zones. What time can I fish in Andorra?<\/strong><\/h2>

It is important to mention that you can only fish during the day, between sunrise and sunset, before sunset.\u00a0<\/p>

Can fish caught in Andorra be preserved and transported?<\/strong><\/h2>

With regard to the length of the fish, it is important to retain or transport only fish longer than 20 cm from the tip before the head of the fish to the extended tail. In other words, if a fish is caught that is less than 20 cm in length, it must be thrown back into the water. There are exceptions to this rule for the species mentioned in the list of the reserves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

It should be noted that in the Valira del Nord river (between the confluence with the Arinsal and Grandvalira rivers) or the Valira de Oriente river (between the confluence of the Forn and Grandvalira rivers), the minimum length of fish that can be caught and transported is 30 centimetres instead of the 20 mentioned above.\u00a0<\/p>

What fish can be caught in Andorra in the high mountains?<\/strong><\/h2>

Salmonid fish are the only species that can be fished in the high mountains of Andorra. Salmo trutta fario (trout), Salvelinus fontinalis (brook trout) and Oncorhynchus mykiss (rainbow trout) stand out above all.<\/p>

It is advisable to find out beforehand about the trails that offer wild landscapes where the lakes are located at an altitude of more than 2000 metres.
